Already Home

about

This is the lead track from the forthcoming Songs of the Smokies album.

After having spent a fair amount of time in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park over the our past 26 years together, it definitely feels like our home away from home. Already Home is the product of trying to delay our inevitable departure.
The music was written on piano, while I was working as a church custodian.

lyrics

How can I go home
When I'm already home?
How can I go home
If I'm not ready?
How can I go back home?
How can I go back home tonight?

How can I go home
When I'm already home?
How can I go home
If I'm not ready?
How can I go back home?
How can I go back home tonight?

Just to sit and listen to the silence
Just to sit and listen to the wind
Just to swim in the creek, in the cold water
Dive all the way in
How can I go back home?

Just to have that kind of lifestyle
Where time, it doesn't exist
Is a dream I've gotta dream again
A thought I can't resist
How can I go back home?

The bonds are growing stronger, just to hold me
There every time we return
Would it still be our special place?
That is my main concern
How can I go back home?

How can I go home
When I'm already home?
How can I go home
If I'm not ready?
How can I go back home?
How can I go back home tonight?

How can I go home
When I'm already home?
How can I go home
If I'm not ready?
How can I go back home?
How can I go back home tonight?
